Equipping Leaders, Strengthening Communities
What happens when a pastor finally has the right tools in their hands?
For many ministry leaders across Uganda and the surrounding region, access to solid Christian teaching materials has not always been easy. Some lead growing congregations with very few books because of their high costs. Others serve in remote areas where resources are scarce, and training opportunities are limited. In some homes, one Bible serves an entire family, passed between a pastor, his wife, and their children, each waiting for their turn to read and grow.
This is where TUPS, through its partnership with Christian Model Ministries (CMM) and Ochorus, is making a meaningful difference by equipping pastors with books and Bibles they can use again and again.
In one recent regional training, pastors gathered from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was more than just a meeting; it was a moment of encouragement, learning, and practical support. Each pastor received four carefully selected ministry books, designed to strengthen their understanding of Scripture and support their teaching.
And the impact didn’t stop there.
In Kasese, similar trainings reached 34 pastors in one location and 83 in another. These represented churches and communities in the different regions. When one pastor is equipped, the effect often spreads far beyond what can be immediately seen.
Many of these pastors have already begun using the books in their own ministries, teaching from them, sharing insights with their congregations, and in some cases, using them to train other leaders. What started as a simple act of giving has quickly become a tool for multiplication.
Alongside books, the distribution of Bibles has also played a key role. In one reporting period alone, 100 Bibles were distributed, reaching both church leaders and ministry settings.
Across 21 churches, these resources are already shaping how Scripture is read, taught, and applied.
What stands out most is not just the number of books or Bibles distributed, but how they are being used.
Through ongoing training, pastors are being encouraged to engage Scripture more deeply and to teach it more effectively. Many are adopting clearer, more structured ways of studying the Bible; approaches they can easily pass on to others. This means the impact is not limited to a single moment but continues week after week, as sermons are preached, small groups meet, and individuals grow in their understanding of God’s Word.
Over time, this kind of investment begins to change things.
Confidence grows.
Teaching becomes clearer.
Congregations become more grounded.
And in many cases, these same pastors carry what they have received into other areas of ministry, including outreach efforts in places like prisons. The books and Bibles they receive are not set aside; they travel with them, shaping how they minister wherever they are called.
That is the beauty of this work! A book placed in the hands of a pastor does not stay on a shelf. It is read, taught, shared, and lived out. A Bible given to a leader does not remain closed. It becomes a source of guidance, encouragement, and transformation, not just for one person, but for many.
Through TUPS, leaders are being equipped in ways that continue to multiply long after the initial moment of giving.
And as these leaders continue to serve, teach, and reach others, the impact keeps growing, quietly, steadily, and deeply rooted in the Word.
